Well we had a warm spell then it cool down again. So the air conditioner got a test run I guess. Every day we have had more color show in our iris beds. Our backyard is really the most colorful. For some reason we have to many purple with various colors of standard showing up. Discover we have three spots of an iris that is called Champagne Elegant. This is a pretty white and brown one. Back along our fence is one called Chocolate Mouse which is a pretty light brown iris. My hubby had to take me out to an old farm place and show me an antique iris that was blooming. Of course it will be introduce into my old fashion garden later. I know who owns the place and will get permission to get a small start. I have been looking for the old standard Wine and Roses but that is like a needle in a haystack. I have found only one spot that sells it and he does not have enough to sell. I did notice that the crops are starting to show up. Will have to really grow for it to be as high as elephant eye on the fourth of July.

Peeking in the Garden
Ok I admit it I am standing out in my garden and yard trying to peek at the new irises that are blooming. Wondering if it is all nice purple or if there is a shade of white or maybe it is full of those lovely strikes of white. Of course my garden is full of odd colors. My hubby thinks we should only buy the normal colors and I am a lover of all things odd maybe that's why I am married to him. He might keep me grounded. We are having a lovely slow show of irises this year. The peonies in the yard are still tight and may not bloom until the end of this month. Of course we have a lot of bushes of peonies. My hubby grows a lot of different kind of flowers.
I have been crafting to many paper items and finding myself wanting to do something with cloth. I do need to sew myself some summer clothes. Think I will do some minor designer touches to the clothes like cross stitch around the collar. Do also need to finish up some old projects like quilts and other things waiting in piles in the studio. I did do a lot of teabag folding the other day. It is interesting starting with a simple square that is pattern or colored and folding it up to make some interesting star or octagon shapes.
With the high cost of gas we are still traveling but not as often. I will be hitting next weekend two town garage sales and an auction. It means I need to travel fast through each garage sale. Of course that is not the first time I have done that. I will have to blog some time my fun at garage sales. Of course it is a good thing that I can look fast. I went to the mother of all garage sales that had over 300 booths. Make for lots of walking and looking fast.

Birds, Flowers and Summer
Well we are now having average to above average temperatures so we can assume we went from winter to summer. We are trying to get things planted in flower pots and the garden. Hubby seems to think that it should be done all at once. At least to me it feels like he is in a hurry all the time. I did manage to catch a picture of the woody woodpecker feeding out of the finch feeder. He seems to think if he hangs just right that it is fine for him to eat out of it.
We are enjoy each day a new blooming iris in our garden now if all of them would bloom it would be something. We have over a hundred colors and most of them are register irises. As license growers it make for a challenge remember the names. We or I should say I will go over our maps and list and get all of them at least rerecorded in the garden book plus tag outside with tags I have. This make me have long days at time as I am trying to create a spot on etsy with some of my handcrafts. As I love to sew and paint and do a lot of different crafts it makes it hard to decide what to list that will sell also. Of course housework really becomes a forgotten work in this house at this time of the year. Hopefully everyone can enjoy some of what we do on this blog. I am going to post the bird and flowers with this posting.
Hopefully the farmers will be getting there crops in the ground as we seem to have a small window of planting time. I saw a load of seed corn go out this morning that could easy being a million dollar load. Between cost and what it was going to grow it very well could be.

Summer Charging In
Well it is happening. After very cold and wet days we have switch to very warm and sunny days. I think summer is charging in. Will have to start dragging out summer items and think of ways to cook outside so as not to heat the house. I am kind of hungry for a meal cooked in our three legged dutch oven. We have had very nice showing of small irises in the yard. We are still waiting for the tall breaded irises to show color. I did get a nice picture of our tulips and irises that bloom in a bed along our backyard. Of course our yard is starting to draw in people who have to check what we have of flowers. The birds seem to think that the feeders should be empty out faster then I can fill them. We have several woodpeckers who love to eat from the finch feeder. So the finch feeder is crowded with yellow finches and a few red headed finches and on the bottom is the woodpecker.
The farmers have been going for long hours around here trying to get their crops in. A few have had to replant because it was to cold and the crops did not come up. The cost of putting in the crops is getting to be very high. So who do we blame for this mess? Lot of finger pointing but lots to blame.
I have been trying to work on a journal to keep track of some of my creative ideas for the crafting things that I do. Will try to work in my studio in the next few days and see if I can get some sewing done. Have lots of fabric that I need to work on plus lots of quilts to finish. Also will try to work on some outdoor projects that are crying to be done.

Wind and Mud
Our spring is here but this year we are cool and rainy a lot. We are having areas that our seeing 5 inches of rain in one day. To much for lots of us. Farmers have very small spaces of time to plant crops and those of us who do gardening find it hard to do much. Our flowers are finally showing colors. The dwarf irises are surprising us with wonderful colors. The yard a couple of weeks ago was so yellow with all of the daffodils blooming. I did get a nice picture of the granite bench with flowers blooming around it. I am also trying to get some of our irises pictured.

Has Spring Sprung?
Has spring sprung in the midwest? We are all hoping so. Our yard has become a sea of yellow with plants blooming. We have lots of daffodils blooming with more to come. My hubby has some yellow bushes blooming also. I am not not going to try to spell the word for the bush. The farm animals are busy with new births and the birds are eatting faster then I can fill the bird feeders.
My hubby is spending more time out in the yard. If given the chance he lives out in the yard planting. We have over 100 different color irises and are planting more each year. We call our little spot Creations on Broadway. We sell berries and garden produce and hopefully this year bulbs. I will try to show you some of our yard.

I Will try to post the happens of the yard and the over 100 different color irises that will bloom in the yard. Hopefully the weather will be sunny long enough to take pictures. Watch for all those things that I do from garage saling for antiques to working on rubber stamp images that I hand paint and put into cards and other things.
